Hi When i have had to get purple primer off of something i use clear primer.Sometimes you may have to work it with a rag or dober that is in the can.Do not rush it may take a few min. to work. After you remove it put a little wax on the spot if it is needed. good luck
take care

It is a dye mixed in a solvent. If it hasn't already destroyed the finish, anything you do to remove the purple, will probably damage the surface.

I will be happy if someone can chime in with something that works, because I fear the worst for you!

Quit using PURPLE primer on any service or repair unless you keep it contained in something that will not allow it to soak thru. I once bought a dryer because of Purple primer, YES, a dryer, you would think that the enamel finish would be impervious, IT IS NOT.

And so my wife comes home and says, "oh well, guess we'll have to get a new floor someday..." GOD I love this woman!! I'll try the solvent, and let you know how it works. P>S> I used purple because it's what I had in the plumbing box. Guess what's NOT in the plumbing box any more!!!

If he does, it will take divine intervention to have him send it. At this stage, anything that will remove the primer will probably also remove the surface of the lino.

The first rule of purple primer is that no matter where you put the can, it will spill.

Purple Primer HAS it's place and that place is on a ROUGH IN Not on a FINISH OR REPAIR

Rough in's are not immune to problems though either. I have seen plenty of nice big blobs on a garage floor or basement floor that will not be getting finished. See how fast you can gather all your saw dust and drilled shavings to throw on it!

yeah right. they will just give the argument that they did not make him spill it, plus i think they have a disclaimer to that fact on the can

I used a clear primer, put the dauber on the spots, let it soak, and wiped, then repeated. IT WORKED, at least enough to make the purple more or less disappear. It did alter the surface of the linoleum, but with a little cleaning, and some wax, I got away with one. DISCLAIMER- this was an older, brown marblish pattern floor, so the cleaned area looks mottled like the rest of the floor, so don't expect these same results on a lighter colored floor.

when working around finished work you should use great care and caution to avoid a tragedy. i have a shallow pan i use to set the glue and primer in and have rags around and under it so it makes it a lot harder to accidentally spill on the floor

Your wife is a wonderful woman indeed. I just threw one big ranting and raving and a little bit a crying while cursing a friend of mines out because this just happened in my new house. why are we doing plumbing in a new house? to move the sink so we can get the washer and dryer in, which caused a leak, which caused purple stains on my new kitchen floor. It was so beautiful...

Most women, including myself do not mind getting new remodeling in our house but please stay away from this stuff. I think a warning should not be under "how to get it out" I think it should be under should I buy this stuff?...should I use this stuff?

waiting with half a bottle of bleach poured on the floor for paint remover and nail polish remover. It look like nail polish. Hope this works. Will update in a couple of hours.

Got most of the purple bad stuff off of my floor with nail polish remover and paint thinner. The stuff the guys suggested here works excellent if you have it on hand to remove immediately. Some spots may have set too long into the linoleum.

You have to move fast once this stuff spills apparently. I will continue to try to get the small spots out that was missed...but I am resigned that I will have to do my blending magic with paint coloring as any artist would do.

Thanks!
